Islands and Water: A Paddler's Paradise

Biscayne National Park, Miami-Dade County

Islands and Water
Biscayne National Park is 175,000 acres of water dotted with small, mangrove-covered coral islands just waiting to be explored. These places are ideal for birds that prefer their surroundings to be on the remote side, like the mangrove cuckoo or the white-crowned pigeon. In many places, the water is too shallow for motorized boats, but perfect for canoes, kayaks and paddle boards to explore unvexed by the wakes and noise of larger vessels. As the headline says, a paddler's paradise.
