The most notable feature of Cypress Creek — particularly the eastern end — are large open areas occasionally dotted with pools of water that attract ducks, wading birds, plovers and sandpipers and even an occasional alligator. Horned bladderwort, a small carnivorous plant with a brilliant yellow "horned" flower grows in abundance in these restored wetlands, evidence that these areas are underwater for much of the year.
