This is Blue Hole, a former limestone quarry that is now a freshwater pond, one of the few sources of freshwater on Big Pine Key. It's a lovely spot, and home to alligators, turtles and fish. The surrounding woods harbor a wide range of birds, including kestrels, green herons, catbirds, warblers and a whole lot more. There's also a short trail that wraps around a portion of the pond and a small observation platform. It sits not far from the Watson Trail — Photo by David Sedore
