Okeeheelee Nature Center — The East Wetland
This might look like an open field, but looks are a bit deceiving. It's wetland mostly filled with knotted spikerush and there is standing water throughout. Where there is open water, you might find mottled ducks, moorhens or other water fowl. We've seen great egrets, great blue herons and sandhill cranes foraging here. Along the banks, there are wildflowers. We've spotted water pimpernel, coreopsis, even a few ground orchids — Photo by David Sedore
