Sweetbay Natural Area is vast — a series of wet prairies and open slash pine forests. That this place is wet should be no surprise, since the area historically is part of the Loxahatchee Slough and headwaters or the Loxahatchee River to the north. Sweetbay Natural Area has an observation platform set amid one of the wet praires, offering closeup looks at the vegetation that grows here, including carnivore plants, some of which are rare.
