J.W. Corbett is among the oldest wildlife management areas in Florida, its purchase by the state dating back to 1947. In the decades prior, the land that is now Corbett was used to graze cattle and harvest timber. Restoration of the land to what was here before its exploitation has been an ongoing effort.
