A First-Rate Butterfly Garden

Daggerwing Nature Center

butterfly garden

With a name like Daggerwing, you would expect this place to have a pretty decent butterfly garden, and it does. The plants are marked and there's an identification guide to the butterflies that might be spotted in the garden. Among the species we spotted: the incredibly rare atala and the palmeides swallowtail that's shown in the feature photograph on the main page. Ironically, what we haven't seen in all our visits, was a namesake daggerwing butterfly — other than the one in the "Butterfly Crossing" sign. Click here if you want to see a daggerwing.
