This is the Cicada Trail, accessible, wide, smooth, perfect for wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, casual hikers and, unfortunately and illegally, bicycles. The trail extends 0.7 miles from the parking lot to a loop at the end. It passes through the oak-and-cabbage-palm hammock, past the marshes and through some scrubby flatwoods, providing a pretty good sampling of what Yamato offers. One natural surface trails extends off the trail, exploring some flatwoods in the northern portions of the area. A second natural surface trail extends from the loop at the end and winds its way to a tunnel that connects the north and south tracts of the natural area. The wooden post seen to the right of the trail is numbered and part of a self-guided tour system. Pick up a brochure at the kiosk in the parking lot to follow along — Photo by David Sedore
