Bill Baggs Cape Florida has an extensive dune system separating the beach from the parking lot. The dunes are covered in sea oat, sedges, grasses and other plants that have extensive root systems that help stabilize the area against erosion and provide vital habitat to nesting sea birds. A line of massive seagrape trees isolate the beach from the parking lot and block light that might interfere with nesting sea turtles.
