Flats and Birds

Biscayne National Park, Miami-Dade County

flats and birds
The waters of Biscayne National Park are shallow in many places, which is one reason why the park is dotted with ship wrecks. In many places, it's too shallow even for small, motorized boats, but perfect for canoers, kayakers and paddle boarders to do their thing unmolested by bigger craft. These flats in some places are shallow enough to become exposed during low tide and make perfect feeding grounds for wading birds. We took this photo off Boca Chita Key.
