Tree Tops Park comes with an observation tower that allows visitors to get an aerial view of the park and a glimpse of life amid the ancient, massive live oaks within the park. Note the masses of resurrection fern growing on the trunks and limbs of these trees, as well as the many airplants and lichens, not to mention the birds and other animals who depend on them for shelter and sustenance. It really is unique among the parks and preserves in South Florida that we've been to. The plants, by the way, are not parasites and do not harm their host trees in any way. Note: the plant along the right edge of the photo growing on the live oak trunk is called arrowhead vine and is an invasive.
